At Encoder Products Company (EPC)

We take pride in designing, manufacturing, and assembling high-quality rotary encoders right here in Sagle, Idaho, USA. Through vertical integration, we oversee every step of the production process to ensure the highest level of precision, performance, and reliability.

More Than Assembly – A Complete Manufacturing Process

Unlike companies that simply source finished parts and assemble them, EPC performs a substantial transformation of materials into finished, high-performance encoders. Our process includes:

check-3   Engineering Design: 16 full time engineers and staff not only design the product but develop the manufacturing and testing procedures to ensure a quality build.

check-3   Advanced Machining: Using CNC machines, we cut and mill all metal components, including housings, hubs, shafts and assemblies.

check-3   Electronics Manufacturing: Our surface-mount technology (SMT) lines, pick-and-place machines, wave soldering, and industrial ovens allow us to populate and assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) with electronic components in-house.

check-3   Precision Assembly & Testing: Every Accu-Coder®, Accu-CoderPro®, Tru-Trac®, and Tru-TracPro® encoder is meticulously designed, built, tested, and shipped from our Idaho facility.

While all manufacturing and assembly take place in our Idaho facility, some critical components—such as specialized electronics—are sourced globally. U.S. regulations require that to claim a product is "Made in USA," all significant parts and processing must be domestically sourced.

Because we rely on a portion of globally sourced components to ensure the best possible quality and performance, we do not use this designation. However, rest assured that the core of our manufacturing process is right here in the United States, and we maintain the highest standards of quality, engineering, and craftsmanship.

The Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA) is a federal initiative aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing by prioritizing U.S.-made materials in federally funded infrastructure projects. At EPC, we fully support the mission of BABAA and are committed to maximizing U.S. manufacturing in our production processes.

  • Substantial U.S. Manufacturing – All core manufacturing functions—machining, PCB assembly, product assembly, testing, and shipping—are performed in Sagle, Idaho.
  • Compliance Support – We work closely with customers to determine how our products align with BABAA requirements and provide documentation as needed.
  • High-Quality, U.S.-Built Encoders – Even with globally sourced components, the majority of our value-added manufacturing occurs in the USA, ensuring top-tier quality and reliability.

If your project requires compliance with BABAA, contact us to discuss how EPC’s encoders fit within your supply chain needs.

At EPC, we are committed to delivering world-class encoders that meet the demands of today’s automation, motion control, and industrial applications. Our vertically integrated approach ensures:

  • Superior quality control – Every step is managed in-house for consistency and precision.
  • Faster lead times – No reliance on third-party assemblers, meaning quicker production and shipping.
  • Innovation & customization – We have the flexibility to tailor encoder solutions to unique application needs.

Experience the EPC Difference

When you choose an encoder from EPC, you're not just getting a product—you’re getting the expertise, precision, and reliability that come from decades of American ingenuity and engineering excellence.
